2025 is the 75th year of Sigma chi at puget sound
The Delta Phi chapter opened at the University of Puget Sound in 1950
For 75 years, the Delta Phi Chapter of Sigma Chi has been a cornerstone of brotherhood, leadership, and tradition at the University of Puget Sound. Since our installation on February 4, 1950, we have upheld the values of Friendship, Justice, and Learning, fostering lifelong bonds among our members. Our chapter’s legacy extends far beyond our years on campus, with alumni who have made meaningful contributions to their communities and professions while carrying the principles of Sigma Chi forward. As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect on the rich history that has shaped us and the future that lies ahead.
Our roots trace back to Sigma Mu Chi, a local fraternity that grew from the Amphictyon Literary Society in the early 20th century. In the wake of a campus-wide shift toward national Greek organizations, our founding brothers sought to affiliate with a fraternity that shared their commitment to character and leadership. Their petition was granted in 1949, and just months later, Delta Phi was officially established as the 119th undergraduate chapter of Sigma Chi. Over the decades, we have called several houses home, from the historic Oakes House to the modern Unit C and Unit F chapter houses, each serving as a gathering place for generations of Sigs.
As we mark this significant anniversary, we honor the friendships, traditions, and achievements that define our chapter. This celebration is not just about looking back—it is about strengthening the bonds of brotherhood for the years to come. We invite our alumni, active brothers, and friends to join us in commemorating this occasion, reconnecting with one another, and ensuring that the Delta Phi Chapter of Sigma Chi continues to thrive for the next 75 years and beyond.
